Young Seattle Couple, Now Living in Florida!

Hi guys!

I've been around for a little bit, but I figured I should make an intro!

My fiance and I just moved down to Palm Beach, Florida from up near Seattle. I was working as an air traffic controller for the FAA, but due to other life ambitions and goals, I've since resigned and returned here for school to finish up my degree in Mechanical Engineering. It's a career move to me that I think I'm better suited for and which will be more fulfilling and offer much greater flexibility for my life plans & goals. My wonderful fiance is a Registered Nurse at a local hospital in the ER.

Just before heading down here, we had completed our first ASA course, Basic Keelboat 101 in beautiful Bellingham, WA. What a blast! It was just us two, plus our instructor on a 2001 Hunter 32!

So, here we are, in sunny Florida, and no boat. Certainly hoping to meet others out there on the water, and when we can, continue our sailing classes! :-)

Take care and happy sailing!

Jesse

Hi Ram,

Thanks for the warm welcome! i'd certainly like to meet up sometime whenever you make back here. I checked out your site, beautiful cat you've got there, and such a beautiful part of the world you're in right now. Beats the daily wet and thunder stormy weather here!

Have fun in the "Med"! Geez, I wish I could say I was "sailing the med"...
Have fun!

Aloha Jesse,
Welcome aboard! That is one stressful job you left. Hope you can find some sailing friends up east in Florida.
Kind regards,

The questions is... How long will you live in Palm Beach before you stop calling yourselves a Seattle couple?

The houses are definitely pretty cheap compared to what that had been. But still not free! We're been fortunate enough to be able to pretty much take over my brother's newly built house. He's never around, so it worked out. ;-)

As for when we'll stop calling ourselves a Seattle couple.... we probably wont! We'll be moving back up soon as I finish my degree here. We love it up in the NW, I've lived most of my life up there, and she was born up there. We still have a house in Spokane, but will return to the Seattle side.

In the meantime, we fully intend on taking advantage of being down here and look forward to meeting some great people, as well as grow our sailing education & experience! So if anyone is looking for some company out on the water, I can supply two great, interesting people!
