Yo ho ho, Hello!

I joined the forum a few days ago and have been voraciously reading various threads. I was bitten by the sailing bug growing up in Oklahoma. Most of my experience prior to last year was dinghy sailing (Sunfish, Laser Pico, etc.). My wife and I live with our four children in the Seattle area. She and I have been taking US sailing classes locally and chartering on Puget Sound. My (and hopefully her ) long term goal is to sail to Florida and the Caribbean and probably not come back to the PNW. Luckily my wife loves sailing at least as much as I do (she had not done any prior to taking a Basic Keelboat course in February!), so that should work out.

No boat yet, we figure we'll take a year or two, rent a bunch and see what we like. We're also having a great time looking at the boats at the boat shows. Our oldest child is 11, so we're going to need something roomy, that's for sure.

We'll be visiting Melbourne, FL (grandparents) in June and hopefully doing a daysail down there. If anyone can suggest a charter company, that would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome Aknod.
Sounds like you have a good train of thought there and with a wife who has found the joy of boating makes it all the better. I am similarly blessed.

As for chartering in that area I'm sorry but have no idea as I'm in NZ currently. But I'm sure someone here will. The members are all over the world and have lots of great information to share even if many don't realise sometimes.

Happy and safe boating to you and yours

Aloha Aknod,
Welcome aboard! Hope you enjoy this forum. You'll get lots of opportunity in Seattle area to look at boats and become a great sailor. Remember to attend the Wooden Boat Festival in Septermber at Port Townsend. Even though you may not be into wood boats it is a great place to celebrate sailing.
Kind Regards,
JohnL
