yet another new guy

I've looked around a little bit and seems like a fun and friendly place. I attached a pic of me up in Snow Island, ME last summer (remember summer?) on "Kaiulani".

Welcome , Sir !

I usually don't get a chance to greet newbies, the powers that be usually keep me locked an chained in the attic. I finally got out this time through a ruse. Welcome again ,Sir, and don't mind George , my invisible dog. He likes people.

George

Thanks for the welcome. George can do whatever he wants as long as there are no visible signs of his presence, IYKWIM
Now, back to the attic before I call an attendant.

Greetings,

I've just recently completed the ASA bsic keel boat class. I don't own a boat but I am looking for ways to get time on the water. Any suggestions?

Bones:
Your chances of getting some quality "water time" will likely improve significantly after California experiences the big one, and Arizona becomes a coastal State.
Welcome!

As a Uof A alumnus, I can recommend Rocky Point or Lake Powell. If you don't mind an all night drive, San Diego's a great boat town. Not much else around there big enough to bother with- at Rose Canyon, you might get the sails up before you'd have to tack (but you might not)
At least you're warm. I however, will be freezing my cajones off til April

Welcome aboard!

Have you considered trips to the Gulfo de Califorina. Puerto Penaco and Bahia de San Jorge are just a couple hours away. I hear the gulf is a great place to sail. Just have to watch for the sudden gusts that blow thru.

The Sea of Cortez or the Gulf of California is a great place. This is where I have been learning, headed back down in March to Puerto Penasco.

Thanks to all for the inputs.

I used to have a lot of fun windsurfing and sailing our laser in Peurto Penasco 10-15 years ago. I recall that the boat ramps were better set up for power boats due to the shallow water. We carried our boat over the sand and launched off the beach. It was always great to get to the ocean when I lived in the deserts of Phoenix and Tucson.

The best part was Corona at 20 cents a bottle when bought by the case. This was before Corona was brought state side.
