Yanmar 1gm fuel ? Issues

Hi All,

I'm new so please bare with me, I live in scotland but you guys seem to know what you're talking about. I can start engine no problems, rev in neutral great as soon as i put into gear it offers to stall, i then give it full revs and gradually it picks up and runs at full power no probs. I have a small fishing boat, replaced all filters, hoses, tightened connections, put more height in fuel tank for better gravity feed, still same, i just dont know and have spent a small fortune so far. can anyone help me please

Re: Yanmar 1gm fuel? Issues

At first glance it sounds like the transmission fuel pump, but it will help if you could provide more information about the engine, what model, how many hours and any other pertinent information. What type of fuel transmission pump do you have?

How many times have you bled the fuel line?
I changed my fuel filter and ended up bleeding the air out four times before the engine ran properly.

Re: Yanmar 1gm fuel ? Issues

Aloha and welcome aboard!
I wish I could help you with this one but its really hard from long distance. It definitely sounds like a fuel starvation problem and it could be like others have suggested that there is still a bit of air in the fuel lines to the injectors.
kind regards,

Idle RPM needs to be 800 - 900 RPM. What does it do in reverse? Does it stall as well?

Regards

Re: Yanmar 1gm fuel ? Issues

Is there anyway to check the suction line for a partial blockage, or perhaps the supply fuel line is partially collapsed when the initial demand is put on it for more fuel. Seems like if it were an air leak it would get worse as demand increased. How does your exhaust smoke look? Turbo or naturally aspirated? As a previously posted, more information about your engine and the setup would be helpful.
