Why share a yacht? Boat-sharing makes good economic sense and the creation of syndicates stops boats from sitting on the water and wasting away though under utilisation, poor maintenance or owner- burnout.The objective of this yacht syndicate is to purchase a suitable yacht and cruise SA waters in a sensible, safe and enjoyable fashion. I envisage syndicating a reasonably modern deep keel cruising yacht of 35-40ft between two, three or four separate members.The purchase cost of this vessel will be $100K - $150K. The vessel will be of GRP construction, and 10-20 years of age. It is intended to purchase a production yacht with appealing form such that viable resale at some later stage, can be reasonably attained.The intention is to operate as a group to perform major items of maintenance, thereby pooling resources, skills and abilities. All syndication provisions are subject to discussion at this stage.Perhaps you already have a suitable yacht and you want to share costs by forming a syndicate?
