Wishin N Hopin

Greetings -

I know Bristol fashion from en flute,
A scuttlebutt from a head,
An Agonic Line from a sea story,
- even built one of those tatty condos at Old Port Cove
And am usually the last to splash the scuppers.
but never spent a night on water.

When my landly affairs are done it's my dream to buy an aft-cabin cruiser and see how long I last as an ICW resident.

If I last long enough to find out.

Permission to come aboard-

Welcome Aboard, boatless wonder,

You might have been around a while to develop a vocabulary containing agonic lines, so you might even want to start with a small boat/small investment, and see where that leads you.

Also, you might like taking a look at the Franklin Wooden Boat School website for a beautiful sailing dinghy with class.

Ann

Well darn. I've spent a few nights on the water and I had to look up the meaning of agonic. Turns out I know what one is but never knew what to call it.

So welcome to the forum. Think you have a pretty good chance of hanging in long enough to get that boat and do the ICW.

Thanks Ann.

My agonic lines wow mermaids but my first dinghy will probably be a mighty Walmart Niner until I'm ready for that space age stuff.

Don't worry. A couple of years practice and you can hoist the hatches and batten down the mains'l with the best of us.

Left out my age - I'm so old I remember the Gold Coast Marathon.

Any GCM fans still alive here?

I'll be lucky if I get past splicing the mainbrace!

I was on the Gold Coast looking at boats last month when it was on

(They're now calling it the Gold Coast Airport Marathon for sponsorship purposes)

I've heard of that GCM - in the 50s there was a speedboat race in the ICW from Miami to West Palm Beach.

The pros would run the course pretty quick, but all the rest of the day the local boaters would parade along the route in everything from yachts to peewee racers - hundreds of them.

It was great.

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Good to have you here. I'm so old that many of my agonic lines have shifted south.
