Where to Start ?

Hi, Ive just joined out of pure frustration. I am also new to computers so finding my way around this site is ???????????????
My story.
I am rebuilding a 42' cat which has been on a chain mooring, unattended for 12 years. I have been working on this for a year now. I have little knowlege of boat building but am a practical person, so far so good.
I have a very limited budget so am repairing as much as posible and doing all the work myself.
My target is to be sailing early next year.
This is just a quick introduction before I get into all the other forums with my questions

Well if GRP even after 12 years of neglect you are probably ok. Biggest worry would be wood core in the decks if it's built that way. Most everything else is just standard repair work.

Welcome aboard.

Rebuilding a catamaran is a big job, but as long as the yacht is structurally sound, you should be OK. I've done tons of boat work over the years on older yachts, and I enjoyed the work. Some people wondered if I would ever get around to going sailing because I worked on my Westsail 32 and Pearson 27 so much. I got lots of satisfaction and pride from fixing things, doing upgrades, and keeping my small yachts seaworthy.

One of the things I like about older yachts is that fixing them up is not rocket science. They tend to have simple systems on board, and keeping things simple makes things affordable. Bells and whistles cost lots of money. I personally am a minimalist, and I admire sailors like Slocum and Harry Pidgeon who circumnavigated on uncomplicated yachts.

Good luck on your project, and keep things as simple as possible.
A strong and simple yacht can take you around the world in safety and comfort.

that is my intention exactly, keep it simple, basic and safe.
I stil prefer the traveling to the fixing which hopefully will be early next year.
