First, a home built pirogue. First sailboat, a Catalina 14.2. Don't miss much about either. Both were good for unplanned swimming. Since, we've had a Precision 18 and 23 and now an Islander 28 which we love the most.

Re: What Was Your First ?

Well we called it the teacup I dont know if that was the actual name on the plans. My dad built it out of plywood, about 7 foot long. I was about 7 years old back in the late 60s

first boat - 1988 Cal-39, the only thing I miss compared to my current Hunter 410 is the lower price

Boats
#1 - 8' Sabot. Great little boat. Everyone should learn to sail on a boat they can lift off of the ground by hand.
#2 - 14' Hobie Cat. Lots of fun.
#3 - 19' O'Day Daysailer. 3 HP outboard. With spinnaker. Could go boat camping with it (tent camp on shore).
#4 - Pacific Seacraft Dana 24. Bomber boat. Cruised Canada, Mexico, in-between. Had a triple-axle trailer built for it (boat and trailer 11,000 lbs )
#5 - Now our Celestial 48. Will be our full-time home in 9.5 months.

Loved to fly on the wire on my Hobie Cat. "If you don't dump it once in a while, you ain't going fast enough." Liked to Surf the Hobie into the Shinnicock Inlet, turn around, go back out and do it again. (That was before they "Fixed" The inlet. It doesn't break inside the inlet any more.)
