Well, Hello Again . . .

Not quite a new member, but a ' sinner returned to the fold' - a long story, not a very active member, as my wee boat (19' Caprice) came off the mooring and had a contra temps with a railway arch - another long story, but repair is going on slowly as I have a full time caring job.

welcome back. I'm sure you'll find other sinners among our fold.

No doubt, Bash. Welcome back, Gordon . . . and not to embarrass you, but since today's one of those milestone birthdays for you, let me be the first of many members, I hope, to wish you the Happiest of Birthdays! Here's to Four-Score-More!

Congratulations on the b-day and I hope you'll tell us your tale. I'm sure it was it the railroads fault - maybe they didn't know you were under sail and had the right-of-way?

True, mine was the stand on vessel and the railway arch did not give way, however there was no railway engine involved, in fact I had checked (superficially) my (half tide) moorings and the forward mooring chain appeared to be quite recent; what I had not discovered that the rest of the chain, beneath the mud, was old chain joined by a worn shackle - an Easterly gale - the only direction from which we had no shelter - the rest is history

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Good to have you here. It's not always who has the right of way but who is larger or in this case more stable that turns out to be the winner.
In any case, I hope you are back on the water soon.
kind regards,
