Wannabe from Ontario

I'm a semi-retired 50-ish engineer who's planning to make sailing part of an active retirement. Home is Windsor, Ontario, Canada, across the river from Detroit, MI.

After years of reading, sailing with friends, taking courses (on land) and some race night crewing, we're nervously thinking that the next step is to buy a modest boat and try out the Great Lakes.

I'm looking forward to benefiting from the collective wisdom and insights available on CruisersForum!

Welcome aboard. There are lots of Ontario sailors here, so lots of expertise about the lakes. Also a lot of half-baked opinions. You pays yer money and you takes yer choice.

The best advice you will get, IMHO, is just do it.

(nine days to launch, but who's counting?)

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Some of our opinions are fully baked too. There are a couple of links after my signature that might help in a boat search as well as a book title that is good information.
kind regards,
