Waiting and Dreaming

Hello all,

Have just joined the forum and am looking forward to contributing and learning. Am a Brit living and working in Hong Kong where I spend many hours emptying the wallet slowly getting my BR Offshore 38 ready for the big blue. Only he above (and probably her who must be obeyed) knows when that will be ! The yacht (AURA) is steel hulled and built in the early 90's in Australia. I've had her 3 years and she is coming along nicely, although the cosmetics keep getting low priority. She was designed for antartic treks so she is great in the heat and humidity of HK. She has an Isuzu marinized diesel (Pisces) and several other, let's say partially obselete bits of kit. Accordingly I have had to struggle with parts and solutions including one or two completely new solutions, such as turning the engine round. I would be very happy to assist anyone with steel boat problems, and of course anything else, although I am still very much a learner.

Cheers / Steve

Hi Steve. Sounds like you are having an adventure just getting your boat ready. I have never been to HK but spent about 6 months in Singapore/Malaysia some years back. I love food from the hawker stalls. In Malaysia the night markets were called Pasa Malum or something and away from the tourist areas the food was totally awesome.

Ya boat will be a beauty when ya get it finished. Planning on doing a south pole trip?

Not so sure about the antarctic. Well actually probably am sure !!! Will do the normal Phils, Borneo bit, then Oz and Western South Pacific - but that's a long way off. Still got some rust to get shut of !

Thanks Bash - not sure about the expertise bit - more a growing list brain brain busters. Ah she's not so bad. Buy cheap and do her up. Keeps me out of the bars (sometimes). This web site sure is a goldmine of information. Its hard to imagine that there is a possible boat problem that has not been discussed before !

Welcome aboard, Steve. We have at least two things in common. I lived for four years in HK (2000-2004) and also presently own an Isuzu C240 Pisces.
