Volvo Ocean Race

Who do you guys think will win the Volvo Ocean Race 2014-2015?

I support Team Alvimedica!

Check out this victory of Team Alvimedica, I always like to be surprised and this team is the underdog for the Volvo Ocean Race. Young team, but with a lot of potential!

Re: Volvo Ocean Race

Welcome to CF Daniel !

I hope the VOR is as spectacular and close as I'm thinking it will with all the boats being identical... Not sure about the points system though... seems Mickey Mouse on the surface...

Alvimedica has some serious talent... The recent writeup of Enright and his path/friendship to the big boats gives them some great cred...

I like SCA for the true underdog... Davies has got it goin' her way...

Vestas is the one I pick to go far...

Re: Volvo Ocean Race

If you have seen Team Vestas in the first In-Port race they did some mistakes which cost them the race. Having said that they had the least time of all the teams to familiarize themselves. What I like about Alvimedica is that they are very consistent in their racing. Have you tried going on their website? Heartbeat Moments - Team Alvimedica, they have an interesting application on their homepage where you can send the heartfelt wishes to the crew!

Personally I like the whole package when it comes to the teams, however it all boils down to sailing. Alvimedica are quite active on all Social Medica platforms - have a look at their LinkedIn profile and Facebook - however how will they fare against much experienced sailors such as Ian Walker, skipper for Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing? Team Brunel cannot be underestimated as well..

Re: Volvo Ocean Race

Hi,

I too follow the race.

It seems that we will see a telling bash to Gibraltar and then whoever gets out first has a good chance of going to Cape Town first.

These boats look like they may have it easier to slide thru the dolldrums but may be a handful in the SO conditions. They do look soft and twitchy.

Too bad the commentary on youtube channel sucks big way and the clock on the official site shows all the impossible times. BUT. Hey, it's sailing time; shut up and enjoy the stream ;-)

Right now it looks like Jabadaba boat did something odd and dropped behind somewhat. Or maybe they just want to have a closer look at those girls ...

Cheers,
b.

I have always loved following the race. It is great to see an all women team in it again!

Re: Volvo Ocean Race

I for one would prefer to see mixed teams. I like it when sex is not a borderline.

Same previous bigger rigs on smaller boats compensated by the canting uplift generating keels... I agree for sure...

+1 !!!

I'd love to see them place well... I had high hopes for Davies in the Vendee, only to have them (my hopes) come down on the deck!

Uneducated on their tactical abilities, but they have every chance if they have that, and can maintain the stamina...

All mention of any major failures of sleds crossing oceans shall be Karmacally kept away from other unmentionable threads...

(damn... I meant not to whistle... )

(OK... no whistling in the other thread either...)

LMAO>>> no worries.. do it all the time myself..

Folk seriously underestimate women at sea.. would have thought Macarthur had put the 'Toughness & Stamina' factor well and truly to bed by now...
Go Ladies....
