UncleMag Intro - Watchdog for World Cruisers !

My name is Uncle Mag, and my nephew and his wife have just departed on what promises to be a trip of a lifetime sailing to many far off lands and points of interest. They left today from San Diego on their 38' mono hull rigged for what seems like anything mother nature can throw at them. Except that I am the worried uncle (having done two trans-atlantic crossings on fairly small sailboats many years ago) and want to do anything I can to provide the "back-office" support to help make their trip safe and fun! So I have some questions to pose the forum, and will do so in the appropriate context as I begin to scan topic threads on this site. I am arming myself with weather tools, text link capaibility to their sat phone, tracking their progress thru their daily "spot" posts etc. Any advise on useful tools that I can use to help send them info would be most appreciated. They are very smart, experienced sailors and I completely trust their judgment, just adding my own special flavor of Uncle Mag protectionism....

Thanks all,
Uncle Mag

You didn't mention how they are set up for weather forecasting or where they're headed but here is a sight where you could monitor the weather for them.

We could all use an Uncle like you!
