Trade: Ocean-front Maui Condo Time for Caribbean Cat Time

Hi Everyone. We are a family of 4 (wife and two kids) living in Colorado. We've chartered a cat 2 times and loved the experience. We've also just purchased and completely renovated a condo on the Ocean in Maui. Had an idea, would, like to know what you think.........

I was curious if there is someone out there interested in trading time on their cat (maybe a crewed week sailing in the BVI's) for time at my condo in Maui. I know the cat costs much more for the week, but we may be able to give more time in Maui or pay additional $ to make it a good value for both parties. Maybe someone may want to live in our place for a while in the winter ?????

What do you think?

thanks

Joe

Welcome to the Forum, Joe! We're glad you've joined us.

I was born and grew up in Colorado, myself. I also had a condo in Kihei at one time - now my ex-wife has one. So your post caught my eye.

It sounds like an interesting proposal to me. The only problem I see is that if someone lives where the winter is cold and snowy, and they have a catamaran down in the Caribbean, why would they choose to spend time on land in Hawai'i rather than sail their cat? Someone might, though, if they just have to get out of the snow and their cat isn't available.

Good luck to you in finding the right person / situation - it only takes one!

thanks. Where are you at now? Haven't met a lot of people who actually left Colorado.

I understand going from a cat to Hawaii may not make sense except maybe during the hurricane season. I've talked to a few guys already who do "locked" down their boat and go to the mainland for a couple months, which are ironically some of the best months in Hawaii.

Not sure what the "snow" comments meant, I must have missed somerthing there.

thanks, take care

Can't help you with the Caribbean cat, but if you need to visit the Raleigh/Durham area, and would like to swap for a cool active passive solar house on acreage, drop me a line.
