Torrie in Africa

Yes, I am new to this forum.
I am a shareholder in an Island in Mozambique (Fogo Island) see fogoisland.co.za
We are relocating a 44ft motorcruizer to Fogo next week from Durban (SA)
As I am actualy a pilot that always flew to Fogo, this is a new experience to me.
I would like info on points of entry in Moz (Villanculos or Inhambe etc) and currents (what wil the ideal distance from the shore to route for best speeds etc)

Re: Torrie in Afrika

Hey Saucy,

I own part of an Island as well. Of course it's only 1 acre in 20 sq. miles, but it's home, and I get to keep the boat in front of my house on a protected bay.
Short stray if I may:

40 yrs ago, before GPS, when local boats were running up and down to the Caribbean, you never sailed without an iron skillet and a small transistor radio.
Coming home, from 250 miles out, you could get the null by blocking the then AM radio stations with the skillet, 1235 and 1340 KHz.
Standing joke around here now, safety check: PFD, flares, iron skillet, cheap old radio.
Don't know how much longer we will have the AM stations.
Dont know if Harbour Radio even monitors 2182 and 2582 KHZ nowadays.

So Torrie, don't forget your skillet

That's a real coincidence ... I'm also a shareholder in an island. It's called North America

Know anyone called Jones? (gotta keep up with them you know)
