Time to stop lurking

Well hello all!

I figured it was about time for me to stop lurking and actually say hi.

So for a bit of intro and background.

While I am new to posting in this forum I have been lurking here reading way to much since about 2006.

I have always dreamed of owning a sail boat and heading off in to the sun set And while I grew up with great parents who always had a boat to take us out on in the lakes and rivers of upstate NY. I never got a chance to sail until 2006 when I patched together a little 12 ft dinghy and stared sailing. I had often dreamed of getting a boat and sailing off and once I got in that little boat I was even more hooked I managed to sail the few times I was back state side until 2008. Then I did what everyone seems dead set against and jumped in way over my head ( I have a habit of that ) and bought a 45 ft Jeanneau.

I wish I had more actual time sailing on her but allas duty called and in 2009 I was off roaming the world again. In that one year I had managed to sail her from MD up to NY around Kingston and then turned right around and sailed back down to DC. Now I am finally done with this roaming around undesirable places. This year I sailed the boat back up to NY this time Catskill.

I am working full time now on the boat. I have a huge knock list but who doesn't? I have manged to to save up what I hope will be 4 years worth of sailing budget ( we will see how long it actually lasts). And in November I will pick up my anchor and head south. I hope to start chasing the sunset but hey you never know where tomorrow will find you

The main reason I have joined finally is purely self interests ( a couple technical questions that eithor have not been answered or not fully answered). But I have always lived my life with this motto in mind " I do everything to make my life easier though if I happen to drag someone else along with me then it is a happy coincidence )

-Phill
