Time to say "Hello"

Hello....

after some time of reading the forum, and a bit over a year since i registered, i guess it is time to say "Hello".

In 1999, on one of my first trips to Key west, i got infected by the sailing and liveaboard virus. In the following years i studdied, learned and sailed a lot. Spend some time on all kinds of vessels, including motorvessels, which i decided back then would not be my further path...

Then I got some training, visited schooles and got all required licenses to make my future dream of a circumnavigation, or an indian ocean x-ing ;-) , at least legaly, possible.

At this time i am only doing charter turns, I do not own a boat at the moment.
Sailing experience single and double handed. Never sailed with a crew more than 2....

Since a few years i am sailing cats. Basically in the 40 foot and smaller range, like Lagoons, FP and Nautitech. Those cats will be on my future buying plan and i am trying to sail each of my "prefered 5" at least 2-3times, before i finally settle for my favorite - but hey, they are all very fine vessels.

I guess i will buy a used boat, modellyear 2015 up. I really like the FP Lucia 40, the Open 40, Bali 4.0 and the R&C Leopards in that size. Lagoons are very fine boats as well. As many of you guys, i would prefer an owners version... Lets see what is on the marked when i am ready to buy...

I hope the used boat market will offer some nice vessels in the close future. Time horizont for my first boat purchase will be about 3-4 years.

Thanks again for keeping this forum alive and collecting informations to answer 90% of any sailors questions...

John

Howdy and Welcome Aboard CF PISCIS (John)!

It sounds like you have a dream, and one many of us share. Learning from what you can read on this forum can help that dream become a reality.

Your intro post is very good, and I like the way you are trying the boats.

Bon Voyage on the Forum and on the water too.

Thank you very much for your kind welcome words.

I got already a lot of great information and personal opinions, just by studying here for well over a year. Sorting those out and building up my own point of views right now.

My dream grew from the first years of just beeing a POB, via taking responsibility as a crew member to the first time as a skipper. And finally to my first single handed trip on a Mahe36.

Have a great day,

John
