hi dave,
langkawi, malaysia and phuket, thailand are popular crusing destinations. the area also has good marina support facilities.
by contrast, singapore is just getting into the act. we also have a few marinas that are well maintained and affordable.
i will be most glad to provide info you may require should you choose to come down.
brisbane, i had been there more than a decade ago. but last year, my family holiday in perth. it was an enjoyable holidays.

hi gord may,
this july, in the clipper race, the fleet sailed from Victoria to Panama. singapore has an entry, the boat aptly name Uniquely Singapore. singapore came up tops in this leg.
did you catch the action there? Clipper 07-08 will start in Sep 07

Thumbs up Ah yes! The good ole days

Welcome aboard KK

I think every sailor that has sailed the Pacific has made it to Singapore. These pictures are from the early 70's. I'm sure it has changed a lot since then, as everywhere else.

Welcome, KK! I know you will enjoy this forum.

My husband (Sunspot Baby on this forum) and I lived in Singapore from 1976-1983 - first near Newton Circus on Peck Hay Road, and then in Katong on Avon Road. We spent many happy days on and in the water during those years, in Singapore, Malaysia, and other countries.

We still miss your beautiful island, the friendly Singaporeans, and the food. Oh! The delicious, wonderful food!

hi delmarrey,
wow, these are great photos. can i use them for personal use? the first photo is the Clifford Pier area. the centre building with a smaller tower is no longer there. in place is a high rise commercial building, Tung Centre. the other photo is the City Hall. thanks again for sharing these photos. with the warmest regards

We didn't have a boat when we lived there, spent time on friends boats out of Changai, and George (Sunspot Baby) did some racing. Lots of time on local boats (Singapore Club Aquanaut Dive Club), mostly out of Mersing going to the nearby islands - Tioman, Rawa, Aur, Pemmangil, etc. We did numerous extended dive trips with the club in other countries. Loved Langkawi, too.
