The lurking is over
Hello,
The wife and I have decided to see if cruising is our next step. I haven't sailed in years and that was mostly a Hobie cat on the mighty Columbia river.
I've been lurking around for a long time, but now that we are back from the boat show">Annapolis Boat show (The left coast has very few cats to look at) we are moving forward now that we know what we want.
George

Hey George welcome to the forum. Lots of info here and I'm sure you'll be able to connect with someone on the multi hull subforum. I'm always amazed at how generous people are with advice here. Again, wecome!

The amount of stuff people know is astounding.
As a member the search feature is way easier to use.
48.59'45N 122.45'50W is the middle of SE 122nd Ave and Ash.
Or is my map reading skill that bad

Re: The lurking is over
With my limited knowledge I'd say not many. And fewer for sail. Monohulls rule the roost.

From my limited knowledge....we have about a half dozen catamarans and trimarans in this relatively small marina (max 750 boats probably about 3/4's full) all the cats and tris are avid racers, only one cruises that I know of.

Welcome! Now post something really crazy.
I'm impressed you know what you want already because I still don't.

There's one of those in the marina we're visiting. I walked over and looked at its outside. Unless you're very tall, how can you see the corners of the boat from the steering station? Do you think you could dock this boat singlehanded? Can you access the liferaft from the cockpit?

I am very tall.. Not planning on single handing it. But I do have plans for better visibility forward - cameras are cheap these days as are tablets.
The only time I'd ever expect to use the life raft is a fire. If anything else happened I'd stay with her. If it is fire it is only a few feet away from either helm. Oh and the dingy is right there too.
