Thanks for Having Me

Although joining the site some time ago I found my way back to it recently to find out information which I'm pleased to say the replies I have had have been very useful. At present I own a 38ft steel custom pugh ketch which has opened my world into sailing, having never sailed before I have found myself being dragged further and further into its endless obsession. For 2 years now the wife and I have thought about up dating to a boat which better suits our needs and as the time clock ticks by we have decided to make that move sooner than later. I'm 54 my wife 53, we are still very fit and agile hense the move now before we are unable to experience what is out there to offer. I currently work a 4 shifts on 4 days off roster allowing us to experience the beautiful lake which is at our doorsteps which is Lake Macquarie New South Wales Australia and when you combine the 4 days off with 4 days annual leave we are off. The lake has an opening to the sea and would be an easy days sail south to Sydney or north to Port Stephens, but with the boat we have I wouldn't be comfortable in doing so, as the wife would require a boat a lot stiffer than the one we already have. Personally I've spent many hours in fishing boats offshore just ask my last wife, so even though I lack sailing ability I know the sea very well.
Although I'm still finding my way around the site I'm sure that I'm yet to use it to its full potential and in the near future if not sooner I may be able to contribute some useful info to somebody who is real need

Hi John, there are lots of pirates around but unfortunately I haven't left the shores of Australia yet but hopefully soon will.

Welcom Pirate Pete. There is help available here from all over the world. But be careful, some of us may even share the same lake, or even the same mooring field. I'll see you on the water.

It truly is a small world, Greg.
We bumped into Colin by the garages. We were parking and he was vaccuming I think.
You should have seen his face when I said I knew you from this forum!
We're just renting here until we can get our cruising plans together!
Nice spot
