Texas Gulf Coast Sailor

I have been managing the restoration of a Pearson 365 Ketch for about 17 years. She finally made a day sail this summer.

My main goal is to learn enough and get enough experience to confidently cruise the Texas Gulf Coast single-handed. I'd also like to make a few longer trips with a crew of three or four. The fantasy land aspiration is to track the voyage that John Steinbeck made that resulted in his log and book "The Sea of Cortez".

Wow, 17 years?

The Pearson 365 is a great little boat and she's not very complicated -- what's taken so long?

Re: Texas Gulf Coast Sailor

Lack of money, partly. Also, the first person to whom I entrusted the restoration ripped me off.

The Chinook needed a lot of work, and I had to commission it little by little.

I am trying to take care of things more on my own now, particularly as the work becomes maintenance rather than restoration.
