Starcruiser happy to be aboard the forum

Hi everyone, just joined the forum and glad to be among like-minded people. I've been refitting my 30 ft wooden Hartley cruiser for the last 6 years or so, a task which I estimated would be done by Christmas of the first year. Yeah, right.

Almost there, and the initial burst of enthusiastic energy has been somewhat displaced by the need to just enjoy the thing instead of getting to it and working, working, working all the time.

So many projects are in the "at least it's working for now" stage and will be attended to "in the fullness of time".

From Melbourne, Australia, and envious of the comparative dirt-cheap equipment you have in the United States.

I'll soon start posting about equipment like portable generator, air conditioner etc.

Till then, bye for now

Welcome aboard SC. Hoping your refit will be completed soon(ish). I know the feeling after sending 7 years refitting a 31ft Van De Stadt Dogger (ply).

The end result will be worth it (so we tell ourselves )

When you have a moment, tell us more about the boat and work done so far!

Re: Starcruiser happy to be aboard the forum

Wotname, thanks for the welcome. I see I'm not the only laggard here . I'll probably post some before/after pics at some stage. It's a 30ft Hartley designed plywood cruiser with flybridge controls. A bullet-proof but unfortunately not well looked after 120 hp Ford 6-cylinder Lehman diesel. Waiting for warmer weather to slip, tear out some plastic non-opening windows and install the sliding aluminium framed ones that have been gathering dust patiently in a spare room.
