Not from but have anchored there and visited the city many times. Anything specifically you're wanting to know?

Lived in Jax for many years, 36 miles away.......

I must say if I had to choose a city to move to anywhere in the country, St. Augustine would probably be #1 !!!!!

Our favorite town in Florida!!! Tons of great non-chain restaurants, good anchorage, good places to get off the boat to walk and friendly locals. We usually spend a week or two going both up and down. The inlet is in good shape.

Just left there yesterday. Very nice place. I have been stopping there for years but it is still a nice place. A1A ale house is a great excause. A must stop place.

What's the name of the marina/tiki bar/restaurant/motel across (East) the Bridge of Lions on the island??? GREAT PLACE!

and how's the new BRIDGE OF LIONS coming along ?

Conch Hut-- It is a beautiful place for cocktails and foof. The establishment was sold but the buyers did not fullfill the contract. I think the property is now in the hands of the court system but Business is still going on. Another nice marina is north of the inlet. A restaurant there has been open for a little over a year and the food is tastey. The Bridge of Lions is coming along slowly. You have to watch out for closings. A barge will be placed in the middle of the new bridge and completely shut down both land and marine traffic.

St. Augustine is a pretty town loaded with history. I think it is the oldest town in America?. We live about 25 miles away, and love to go over for the day. We haul the boat there also. Forts, churches, and tons of things of interest to see, and do.

I hope to get there soon! Was on my way there last month! Waiting for a freind to move there and she said it's a great anchorage there!

Yes, my boat is here. I am still replacing and repairing different items on Scallywag. You need to watch anchoring north or south of the Bridge of Lions. During a northeast blow, boats have dragged their anchor right into the Bridge of Lions and the temporary bridge. The current is strong. There is about a 5 foot tide. During a blow the water is pushed into the inlet. Sometimes the town goes underwater during north easters, so tell your friend to watch where the car is parked in St. Augustine.

St. Augustine is a "don't miss" city.

Since 1981 I have seen some pretty unpleasant sights with boat meeting bridge. If the people just put out more scope, they would have been fine. The northeasters really do not give much warning and the weathermen are not much help.
