Solitude in BC

Hi
After reading postings on for half a year now I thought I should register! I'm In Vancouver and bought my first sailboat last year. (been chartering for a while). I love the site and being a new boat owner have found more knowledge here than anywhere.

I have a Cascade 27 "Solitude" (factory finished/many were not) with a little 1GM10, actually the very one in the photos on the Cascade Yachts homepage. As par for the course previous owners did some silly things with house wire for AC, thick carpet clued on the cabin sole, and using 5200 to bed deck hardware but I have done a lot of fixing with help of this site.

Got my wife and two kids as crew and have spent the summer exploring Vancouver the Sunshine coast and the islands. Love the boat and the sea and planning for longer journeys in the future.

Thank you Gord and Allan

I can take potshots even without that shirt!!! But it might help my aim...

Solitude, glad to see it wasn't 6 months until your second post. Welcome and hope you enjoy the ride. Myself, I'm used to getting potshots 'cause I'm one of the stinkpot minority.

That's mighty kind of you, but I got green canvas on my boat. It'd clash.

Aloha Solitude,
Welcome aboard! Friends of ours finished and sailed their Cascade 27 throughout the South Pacific starting at Yacht Constructers in Portland. Good to see another Cascade owner here.
Kind regards,
JohnL

Wait a second.... I'M THE PREVIOUS OWNER!!!!

In my defense that stuff was done before me. I think we need to blame the previous previous owner - the lubber. Lets hope he's not also on the forum...

Good to see you here Solitude.

The stuff that was done was old. I know it wasn't you. I replaced the house wire with proper marine cable and put in a breaker and GFI plug, replaced the old carpet (stinky) and caught all the freshwater leaks. She is dry fresh and electicaly safe now.

Cool that you're here! Its a good site with tons of info and heated debates. Solitude is tied up for the winter. Moving to Burrard in the spring... I hope.
