Sawasdee from Thailand

Been lurking for a while but finally decided to get onboard.

Originally from Texas (and Seattle) but for the last seven years I've been in Thailand, where I have a charity foundation named Isara("freedom" in Thai).

One of the "environmental" projects we're looking at doing in the future is building a solar powered catamaran that will go around the world, to help increase Thailand's awareness of renewable energies and also bring in more sponsors for our charity. It's a big project but we think we have the connections here to have most of the equipment donated and, of course, the knowledge base on Cruisers Forum should help A LOT along the way.

Now we just need the boat! lol

I'm a journalist and have been deployed in MUCH worse. No, the Red Shirts don't scare me anymore than the yellows would have last year. Like I always told my father when I was someplace where the crap was hitting the fan: "It always looks worse on TV"

Your project sounds interesting. I always considered my sailboats solar powered since that's what makes the wind blow.

It's strange seeing people outside the environments you usually see them. I didn't know you were a cruiser.

I'm a newbie, a dreamer for the last 10 years but just bought a boat, I'm going to start off in the Bahamas and Caribbean for a couple years then hopefully get over to your part of the world one day. Isn't technology great!

Your project looks interesting. Keep up the good work with Isara, you have done some really good things!

Just saw the thread and since we're living in Krabi part-time I thought I'd say hello.

The solar cat project sounds very interesting. I love cats, especially Wharrams and one of the builders is in Phuket. How can I find out more and keep updated as to what's happening with the project?
