Stop it. The US govt did NOT say memaids don't exist. They said they still haven't found any hard evidence they do exist. Same like weapons of mass destruction... they don't have to take a lack of evidence as proof that stuff doesn't exist!!!!

Mermaids exist every bit as much as Santa. Until someone can offer hard proof to the contrary.

I heard about this site yesterday and was up til the wee hours scanning the different forums and delighting in the witty and humorous interactions.

I inherited a love of the water, particularly warm waters, from my sailor dad. In my teenage years, I spent several summers living aboard with him on our 28' Westerly, which we restored ourselves together. Giligan became my handle as we sailed different lakes and intercoastal areas throughout the country.

I carried that easy, free-spirited nature with me and have found myself lots of places (here in the states) and doing lots of different things. Last summer, for instance, I spent 3 1/2 months backpacking the rocky mountains of Idaho and Wyoming all alone but for my best friend Jack, the mountain dog! Ashame that it only lacked a coast.

Now, landlocked in Kansas I sink back to those memories of the spray off the bow on a windy day or the sound of gentle luffing on a not so windy day and am hoping that some sailor friends and good conversation might ease my discontentment. I half expect myself, in the coming months, to be posting to the crew available forum and running for warmer ground or not ground

Glad to be here
Could this work?

Welcome Lindsey!

You have a lovely way with words... so that qualifies you as a mermaid in my eyes! Hope time reveals all and you find a way to keep the saltwater coursing in your veins.

I kept the dream alive and now living aboard planning my sailaway.
Cheers lassie!

Re: Salt Deficient Mermaid Awash in Kansas !

Hello,

I am a beginning sailor and live in Oklahoma. We are headed to Junction City, KS on Wed. or Thurs. this week, so we will be quite near you. It was quite fun to read your post. I so relate to the feeling of wanting to be a salty girl.

If you ever want to chat with another landlocked girl, let me know. I always love talking about all things ocean related. Have an ever so fine day.

Re: Salt Deficient Mermaid Awash in Kansas !

I came from Okla. and Tex. and they are good places to be from SkprJohn.

Ladies, if you stare at the waves made by wind in wheat for too long in the hot sun, you will wander off mesmerized toward the nearest ocean. It happened to me.
