Sailing Wannabe

My wife and I are new to sailing after spending 10 years with powerboats. After some introspection and further research it has come to our attention that the wind is free vs $4-$5 per gallon of diesel. I have always believed that sailing is the more romantic method of cruising and now need to learn as much as possible as quickly as possible. I intend to take sailing lessons this spring and hope to improve upon my two weeks of "sailing experience" on 44' sailing cats in the Caribbean while on vacation.

My wife and I live in South Florida and plan to purchase a 35'-43' sailboat within the next two years. I have read the current threads regarding some Caribbean boats and would like something that can be sailed single-handed, be comfortable enough to spend several months aboard, be a solid and safe home and cost under $120,000.

We would be happy to entertain any and all suggestions.
Thanks!

All boats of got their good bits, but yeah - it's about time you crossed over!!

Same rules, just a different, cleaner, quieter. more mellow source of power.

If you are planning to sail the Caribbean and the US east coast the Moorings and Sunsail ex-charter Beneteau and Jeanneau out of Tortola represent excellent 'bang for the buck!'

They tend to have high engine hours because they motor a lot and use the engine to keep the beer cold but the 3 friends I have that sail them are very pleased.

Moorings have a brokerage outfit that runs out of Lauderdale.
Worldwide Offices By Region « Exclusive In-House Brokerage Offices

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Once we start our sailboat engines we become powerboaters. Good to have the wind as primary.
kind regards,

Here's some ladies for you to browse... freedoms are easy to sail... Swans speak for themselves but for a live aboard the Moody is hard to beat
