Sailing the River Thames

Hello all, I'm new to sailing and to the forum, but I have a keen interest in sailing.

I have easy access to the upper River Thames and hope join a sailing club soon. Once I know what I'm doing I would want to explore as much of the river as possible.

Anybody know what's the longest route sailable between bridges, from Richmond Bridge upwards?

And are there restrictions on where and when I should sail?

Re: Sailing the river themes

Hi there Roger -

We visited London the other week, but stayed below Tower Bridge. We bought the "East Coast River Pilot" to get us up the river.

There were quite a few boats over-wintering in St Katharine's Docks.

Have fun!
