Sailing out of Singapore
Gday all
Just joined. I live aboard and sail out of Singapore. Certainly not as much sailing as I wish mainly because of work. Always interested in hearing from like-minded people. Fair winds....

Hi Capn Morgan - Got your email - thanks.
There are a bunch of great folks on this forum and probably 3-4 from Singapore although I am probably the only regular poster.
The Singapore racers hang out at SA pretty much but this place is definitely home base for me and for cruisers.
Welcome to CF and enjoy the forum!

Hi All
Thanks for the kind replies.
Sari Timur: not that one, I'm in One15, a green one.
Ex Calif: Much more my scene, if it wasn't that I have to go to work I might have stayed in Changi, but living aboard is easier in Sentosa... Will try and come over to visit anyway. I still have to pay a visit to FourFriends.
Best to all

We will be sailing out of Singapore too! Soon! Not long after we sail into Singapore
Welcome to the Cruisers Forum. Watch out for Dan racing around the harbour on Saturdays (a high mountain would be a safe bet on weekends).
In a few months we will be indundating the forum for good Asian knowledge... so be prepared to have us a) at our marina b) in your boatyard c) on your doorstep!

We are doing the rallies Sail INdonesia and Sail Malaysia so I believe its in between, about mid October. I don't know for how long.
These rallies are fun, however, I understand how they impinge on the total freedom cruisers often have. i.e. I know we are going, but dunno when... I'll just follow the faster boat!

To be truthful from what I have heard the only way to get through Indonesia right now is via the rally or with big bonds.

Right now I think the only way to sail through Indonesia, is with the rally. they are charging huge deposits on yachts if you are not part of the rally. Not clever but no real voice to object to a law that doesn't make sense.
Cheers

Welcome to this great forum!
We lived in Singapore in the 70's and 80's, and have never been back but still miss it greatly.
Maybe on our 50th wedding anniversary in 2012 we'll be there (by plane). Hope Zam Zam's is still open then.

Aloha and Welcome aboard,
My last visit to Singapore was via Navy ship back in the late 70s. I liked it a lot.
Kind regards,
JohnL
