i assume you are talking about the cape verde islands?

windy,rolly anchorages,fairly impoverished ashore,mindelo has a marina of sorts!

not for the fainthearted, but some spectacular scenery, friendly people.

thats why they call it "Africa Lite"!

As he said. Africa Lite.

At places, we did not find the people friendly at all. We know of cases when cruisers got attacked, robbed, etc. (Dinghy theft - St Maria & Praia, attack and robbery - Sal & Mindelho). Read Noonsite for more recent situation.

Mindelho marina much improved over last couple of years.

Some risk of Dengue and or Malaria.

ARC stops there - you may benefit from some false feeling of security in the crowd. Otherwise, visiting with a group of befriended boats much recommended - theft from the deck is pretty common in some anchorages.

Provisioning better done in the Canaries.

Nice landscapes, sun and wind guaranteed.

Hi,Franci, I live in the Canaries, Gran Canaria.I have a friend who is just to leave to Cape Verde. He spends three to five months every year in Cape verde. If You wish, I can ask where the best place to go.
Are You going to Cape Verde in the way to cross the Atlantic or to spend sometime there?
Regards, Agustin.
