Sailing from Norolk !

I have been lurking here a while. My wife and I just picked up Alberg 30 to cruise on. We were looking at larger boats but seemed initial cost and the continued maintanence costys would just be too much. So we bought an Alberg from Oriental and sailed it to Norolk, Va. We are now setting her up the way we want. We will be cruising(while working our current 9-5 jobs)the Chesapeake and hopefully New England area for a few years before moving aboard. Our goal is to sail to the Med then take her to the West Coast....we both want sail under the Golden Gate. thank for all the useful info on the site!

Welcome, the Alberg 30 is a fine boat, good luck with her.Why bother going all the way to the Golden Gate? It's cold and foggy. Just head south to the Caribbean, one of the best cruising grounds on Earth.

Our true home is much closer to Your Norfolk, we have spent many years sailing the East Coast and we regard the Chesapeake as being where heaven would be if you plotted the coordinates.
We’ll be back there later this year and if you do decide to pop over to the Med at some point, hang a left at Dover, head up to Lowestoft and look for the Sancerre IV in Hamilton Dock.
We keep a well stocked bar with Rum, Rum, and Rum and you are invited anytime to enjoy the drink of your choice as long as it’s Rum…James

I should explain, the Norfolk / Suffolk borders are redefined more often than I change my socks. Right now, Lowestoft is in Suffolk, but our house, a few miles away is in Norfolk. You're confused?. You should try living here...James

Not sure what our schedule is yet, let me know when you plan to be on this side of the pond. We'll be sure to have rum on board...James
