Sailing Clubs in North Bay California?

Hi,

I am looking for a good sailing club to join in the San Francisco Bay Area. I live near Bodega Bay, but can travel to SF, Sausalito or Petaluma. I would like to join a club that is not pretentious and has good people that could teach me to sail and eventually help me purchase a sailboat.

Thanks!

When I was up there, 5 years ago, the Tradewinds Sailing Club had both a good sailing ASA Certification program, and a GREAT boat rental program (they are in Brickyard Cove -Point Richmond) . www.tradewindssailing.com There is a new owner since I was there - and that WAS 5 years ago. They offered a heck of a deal if you sign up at the big Oakland Boat Show (or they did).

Good luck!

Aloha Fijigirl,
Welcome aboard! Hope you find what you need. Sounds like Thomas has you headed in the right direction.
Kind Regards,

I 2nd Tradewinds, I am currently a member. For less than slip fees I can take out a boat whenever I want basically. They have a good fleet, and great membership. Brick Yard Cove in Pt Richmond

heard good things about tradewinds also check out OCSC. Good fleet of boats and good teachers (disclaimer I used to have a boat in the OCSC fleet as an owner. Has been sold) I bet there are good programs in Sausilito but I don't know which ones.

Hi:
My only experience is of East Bay (Oakland Estuary) but our local mag, Latitude 38 would likely have many listings and may have had an article specifically. They also have an excelent "crew list" for local racers of all levels that gets published in the next couple of months.
Good luck and enjoy our "early spring".

Thanks for the info

Hi, Thanks to all for the great advice. I really appreciate it. I just logged on after several busy days and was happy to read the responses. I am really excited about learning to sail.
