s/v Rode Orm - A French / Swedish Adventure

Although fairly active on a couple of other forums, this one hasn't 'showed up' before my eyes until recently.

The 'cruising on a 500 USD per month thread is a true gem in my opinion and I decided to join here just to be able to say that. All cred to 'Goprisko' for starting the thead and for sharing his experience and knowledge freely.

The information he provided on this forum could have made a book, a series of articles or seminars.

Over to us; we are on an open-ended cruise since a bit more than a year. we took off from Sweden in late June 2009 and slowly moved south, mainly to escape the nordic winter. And, that winter turned out to be the coldest in many years.

We spent most of it at anchor in Algarve Coast in Portugal, where we experienced hurricane force winds- for a very short time though- during the 'Xynthia' storm in late February. Xynthia passed north of us and ended the lives of around 60 people in the Vendée region (close to La Rochelle) in France, so was a BAD one indeed.

We are currently cruising southern Spain and will turn south during this fall to cross the Atlantic during the winter. A non-fixed itinerary, where we take it a day at a time and enjoy as long as we want to in every place we visit is the leading star for our Voyage.
I hope to be able to contribute once in a while on this forum. Once in a while depending on internet connections 'out there'

Cheers

Magnus & Isabelle

The only thing we know for sure is that nothing ever is going according to plans.

Another thing I know for sure, out of experience, is that everything in life happens for a purpose.

when we came over here, to Sea of Cortez, the boat of our dreams, turned out to have quite a few items on the 'to do-list' so we passed.

Instead we've made a deal on a Southern Cross 35' Cutter and we can't wait to take her out on the water.

any other SC 35 owners on the board?
