Retirement Commitment

Hi All !
I've just joined the forum and grateful to see so much camaraderie. I hope to join the ranks of the live-aboards soon. My goal is to buy a 45'+ within the next 12 mo. I just started looking at Jeanneau 45DS new but used is more appealing above 2001.
I'm learning about licensing and insurance via "Cruisers". Thank You!
My dream is to finish out my years afloat. Traveling as much as money will allow.

Thank you for the kind words! I want to be smart about this. Like your wonderful quote suggests; get real and it will be real. ) adjusting sails is just the right approach.
So baby steps first then buy and learn before loosing sight of land. Gosh that's a lot of cliche but you get my drift.

Re: Retirement Commitment

Welcome, yeah I plan to retire from the military with 20 yrs and use the pension along with a few savings accounts to spend the rest of my days sailings. But we all know how things in life happens, is the goal anyways.

Re: Retirement Commitment

Aloha and welcome aboard!
This is all just my opinion. After sailing and living aboard and maintaining boats for many years I've decided that anything over 36 is too much boat for me. There are many who disagree but if I were starting again I'd pick something smaller than 45.
kindest regards,
