Ready to live the dream

hi all ... we are retired Canadians, who have simplified our lives and figure it's our turn for some fun and freedom. Refitting our 37ft sailboat here in Chula Vista and plan to leave for Mexico beginning of Feburary 2009. Meanwhile, this is a great place to be, and we look forward to some sailing around San Diego bay next week. Lizzie and Frank

You might consider cruising the California Channel Islands before you head so far south that the long beat north is too much. There's much to see on Santa Cruz Island's long shoreline and Catalina Island has it's quaint Avalon and Two Harbors on the way from San Diego. You are not too far from these places but if you only will do down hill then you will like Cabo's bearing much more.

It is a wonderful sail doing the Milk Run to Cabo. At least that is what I was reading, and told. When I went in 03 the wind was reversed, cold, and damp until Cabo itself. Unfortunately when I returned the wind was back in position, so once again it was cold & damp. I would do it all over again if given the chance even on my old 30ftr which was my ride at the time. Have fun, and BEST WISHES in getter better weather than I did......i2f

Ah, retired from being a Canadian. Well done!
Just kidding of course.
Welcome aboard! Good to have you here. I used to sail out of Fiddler's Cove on the strand near Coronado and lived in Chula Vista many years ago. San Diego is a great place to sail.
Kind regards,
JohnL
