Hello --

I guess this is my "greet." Or would this be a "meet?" Either way, it's my post #1 in what looks to be a very interesting, helpful and friendly forum.

I sail my '79 Islander Freeport 41 ("Journey") out of Alamitos Bay in Long Beach, CA (so. Cal.) with my wife and 2 children (5,7). We're cruisers at heart although we havn't ventured more than about 120 miles from home port. Dreamin' and aiming for a cruise to Mexico in the not-too-distant future - and I'd love to just keep going.

For now, though, we're lovin' our frequent trips to Catalina Island where we spend much time at Emerald Bay - we are members of the Corsairs sailing club and our home base is in a small cove within Emerald Bay. Paradise!

I'm looking forward to learning from, and dreaming with, this forum. And it's always great to see those that have turned their dreams into reality...

Dream and sail on!

John

Dear John,

Rules of this forum:
1) never listen to anything I say.

Now thats settled....

I thought a meet and greet was what one of those people do at the airport when they hold up a card saying Mr Smith (et al). That bunny has been told to go do a Meet and Greet on Mr Smith.

I have never had a meeter and greeter meet me

oh well.

one day.

One day I'll hire some sucker to come and Meet and Greet me with the biggest sign in the whole airport!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I may even wear a coat over my head so people think I am really famous

I hope I don't trip.

Welcome John!

Mark

Aloha John,
Welcome aboard! Good to have you here. I've heard that Catalina is wonderful.
Kind Regards,

Hello first time

Fellow sailors,

This is my first post.

From 1973 til 2005 I sailed (& raced) a Columbia 38 (Corisan) out of Falmouth MA, then Boston MA. I let her go because her deck needed alot more "rehab" work than I was prepared to do. I'm currently looking for a "classic" looking powerboat in the 34'-37' range, having had a power boat before Corisan and thinking it would be nice to go back to power cruising again.
