Pensacola Cougar New Member

Hello to everyone,
I simply need (not just love) the shape of a sail with wind in it. I've been found by an old (1969 Not that old to me 1951) Cougar cat that I'm itching twitching to launch. I got a cat because of the low draft (not the speed of course) and because although I've always wanted a great big monohull but have since realized that it's smarter to know someone who needs crew on a great big monohull or even better a great big cat.
I've sailed with my friend on his 30' Morgan in Carlisle IL and we and our families went to the BVI for two weeks in 1999 and I got my first taste of a cat in Jamaica in 2010 and so I was hooked. Anyone who has knowledge of Cougar sailing cats especially with a foil roller furling jib, please get in touch.
I should have joined this group a long time ago,
Thanks,
Mark

Welcome. Do I understand you're in Pensacola? If you are, I'll be glad to connect you with local multihull people. PM me if you would.

I've never heard of a 'cougar' catamaran... I Googled the term and only got powerboat references.

Re: Pensacola Cougar New Member

The Cougar is just almost exactly like a Shark. It's almost 19' long, has deep hulls, but is all fiberglass as opposed to the Sharks wood deck. I believe it was first made in England and then I'm not sure but it may have been made in Minnesota (maybe). Mine was made in 1969. I have seen a cat that is claimed to be a Cougar that looks alot like a Hobie for sale in New Zealand. Anyway, I'm looking forward to sailing her and I'll share here how she does.

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Good to have you here even if you are not a cougar as advertised. It doesn't matter to me. I'm way too old for cougars anyway. Love to see a picture of your cat.
kind regards,
