Only a student

Hi, I'm a student of University La Sapienza of Rome, and I need some informations about OpenCPN.
I'm doing a thesis about a radar sperimentation on the Sea and I need some referement to valide or not my acquisitions.

I red some manuals about OpenCPN but i didn't find the answer to an important questions regarding my future work.

In fact I will work on AIS data off line.I won't be on a ship but my AIS receiver will be in a harbor. I would like to know if,with an AIS receiver and by OPEN CPN i could register all data that I will receive and store them in a hardisk or some of similar.

Is present in the bar of OpenCPN a sort of record?

Sorry for the questions but Ihave to decide if buy an AIS receiver and it it very important for me.

King Regards.

Cheaper than a normal AIS receiver would be a software defined radio receiver plugged into your computer's USB and software to manage the data received. A number of people have developed the software for this.

Alternatively dAISy: https://www.tindie.com/products/astu...-ais-receiver/

Whatever you get you still have to get an antenna.

Hi,

Yes you can save and replay AIS data with the vdr plugin cf: VDR | Official OpenCPN Homepage
