Old Salt, New to Board

Nice rig you guys have here. I'm Michael from Northern IL. I've been sailing since I was 5 and have recently started to charter more. Last Summer was Baja, and I'm currently planning my first cat experience for next Spring.

I host and admin a forum for Tartan 37 owners and one for Toyota Solara owners so I know the power of a good online community. Looks like you've got that in spades here. Glad to have found you!

Cheers and Fair winds, MJC

Talking

Welcome aboard Down2TheC! What part of Lake MI are you on? I'm interested in rental/charter of a sail boat to take my parents out on somewhere within a couple hours driving from around Mackinac. Any ideas?

Stillraining...right on with your PS.

Gee... haven't even finished giving the place a once-over and there's replies already! My kind of forum.

Of course my Toyota was built and designed in Kentucky while many GM's are cobbled together in Mexico. So... yeah. You'll like that Scion. I hear and see good things at the car shows.

Look out for the Mods....some of this isn't sailing related. (There should be a 'smartly saluting' smiley for respect here) :-)

Aloha Michael,
Welcome aboard!
Let's see if I can make this sailing related: While sailing up the Kentucky River I happened upon the Toyota plant in Lexington and took a tour. Unbelievable quality production!
If you've been to Lexington you might know that there are no waterways there.
I had a friend who spoke well of his Tartan Blackwatch.
Kind regards,

Ah, Blackwatch has a new owner in WI. They're on the T37 forum. Small world. If you still know the guy and he still considers the boat art, tell him the association put together a book with pics and interviews and info. It's available on the Tartan parts site or Home There's even an interview with Olin J. Stephens 6 months before his passing. Good souvenir of a vessel that no doubt treated him well.

High Flight became the cover model. I was so proud.
