Old Salt Looking for New Home

Obligatory intro: I'm a professional writer and largely unpaid ocean activist. Been on the water since I was a kid. First vessel was a Clipper Marine 26'. No clue why or how I'm still alive taking her offshore but... Since then, there've been at least a few others in that size, and a couple multihulls, the largest being a 42' Wharram that I was stupid enough to sell for a song when I was stupid enough to move inland.

I've held on to a piece of land, beautiful place up on a hill, with a huge view, water, electric, phone and septic. Finally sold it earlier this year after renting it for some time, when I realized there was no way I was going to want to retire to a place 1000 miles from the nearest saltwater. Unfortunately, I had to take paper on it in this economy, so... On here looking for a capable cruiser that someone is willing to take $500 a month or so on. She doesn't need to be bristol, just seaworthy.

I'm after monohulls in excess of 28 feet, preferably in the 30-40 foot range. Fond of older heavy boats. Cheoy Lee has always tugged at my heart strings...
Also of interest would be a multihull of 31+ feet. Ideally I imagine a 35-42' tri or cat would be the best solution. Prefer warm waters, but willing to consider boats on the ocean further north, or abroad.

Meanwhile, I hope to learn some, maybe share some, and enjoy the company!

Avast Old Salt, welcome to the site and the hunt! It's like looking for the perfect woman, never find her?

But.................. there are lots of imperfect, cheap yachts out there, dont waste your life looking for the best yacht, grab the cheapest, closest one to you and go sailing. upgrade later when you know what you like?

Unlike women, all the yachts are that are for sale have a starting price displayed? Love the one you are with, as they sing!!!
