Oceans missing piece. Adhd & Autism.

HEY SAILORS!

Myself had to leave my job as a sales manager in timber! Took 2 years to find a solution to my problem. I have adhd! 30 years old all my life I felt different. Also my son has autism what's very hard to help him. I'm wanting to sail the Atlantic circle on youtube aswell! My son might not see the world, so he can see the glory through my eyes. Thank you for reading.

CAN ANYONE HELP ME FIND A SAILING YACHT. PROJECT PLEASE.

Have a look on yachtworld for a boat. You might wanna get your adhd under control BEFORE you take on a project boat, and setting off to “see the glory” is a lot more difficult that it appears to be on youtube, it’s more than a full-time job to produce a high quality video that’s worth watching.

Don’t quit your day job.

Hi.

You can make it easier to manage when you get a boat in a place away from England.

It is much easier to sail around the North Atlantic from, say, Portugal to the Indies, then back to Portugal. Start and finish between Lisboa and Gibraltar is probably easiest.

Check out your sailing experience. What you want is easy for those who sail already but can be taxing for less experienced newcomers.

Cheers,
b.

Re: Oceans missing piece. Adhd & Autism.

What they call adhd used to be referred to as being smart and having a short attention span. Put your big boy panties on and find a job you like that suits your abilities....... i also have a VERY short attention span. I have a hundred projects going at once and only a few completed.
I joined the USMC, it’s amazing how much crap you can deal with at any given moment when the feces is thrown in the fan, i was good at it.
I now run the field ops for a construction company, again, a million things going on all the time, perfect for someone that needs that.

When I was younger my Dad would just smack me upside the head, “Pay attention Boy!” That works too. I think more people just need a smack upside the head.

Yachtworld = Boat Porn. That’s where I started. Buy a well made older boat in as good a condition as you can afford. There’ll be plenty to fix and keep you busy without having to do a complete refit.

Re: Oceans missing piece. Adhd & Autism.

Start sailing now! Dinghy sailing at first would be best as it teaches you instinct and rapid response. Potential capsize and getting wet is a great motivator to learn quickly :-) Only look at the best examples of a boat model you are interested in. If you can't afford them, you are looking at too big a boat, reduce length until you can afford them. Learn what various people consider a bluewater boat and come to your own definition. Also, add 50% to purchase price for repairs and maintenance before setting off.
