Hi all of you!
Have been a reader for a time but since I moved on board a year ago, left Sweden
6 months ago and finally got some mileage under the belt I think now is the time to be part of it all
I'm cruising my steel
sail boat Nemo of Sweden
, a One-Off 38' footer build in 1985 after drawings of R. Dufour
. We are getting along very well and I starting to get a hang of it, sailing that is. I have lived by the ocean all my life, but not sailed that much. This is my first long trip, the one without any fixed end. My idea (together with my 1stMate) is to cruise
around the Atlantic at first: Sweden
- Iberia - Canaries
- Cape Verde
. Then down coast until we freeze again - to South Georgia
and over to South Africa
. Then back to Brazil
. After that I have no clue. But by then I hope I have made up my mind: is this fun or not. For sure I'll be out a few years.
We are both born 1975 and have been friends a long, long time. My 1stMate had about 2 days of experience before he moved on board 7 months ago helping me fix half of it that was to fix. Then we left just before X-mas 2009 and gained some experience down to Spain
in somewhat hard winter cruising. Now I'm in Portugal
next to Spain
on the Algarve coast trying to fix my second starter motor
PS. Got a blog of course (we are almost included in the internet-generation...?) at
Nemo of Sweden
- in Swedish but soon enough in English
as we move on. Google
translate will do some of the work to understand it if you are interested.
