Talking Newcomer

Hello all.

My name is Andy Copeland. I'm a 71 year-old who has been lucky to sail since the age of 12 and have raced and cruised all over. Current boat is a 38' Beneteau that we bought in 1985 that now has visited 106 countries with over 100,000 miles logged. Liza and I are currently at home in Vancouver but return to Bagheera, currently laid up for the hurricane season in Venezuela, early January.

I'm finding the discussions on this forum very informed and hope that I can contribute.

Aloha Andy,
Welcome aboard!! It'll be good to hear your opinions. You've obviously done more sailing than I have and it would be great to know you are watching over what we have to say.
Kind Regards,
JohnL

Welcome aboard Andy

It's good to have an ole salt drop in. I'm looking forward to hearing about your experiences and wisdom.

So, your vessel has just come of age. Let's hope it doesn't get a mind of it's own.

Welcome Andy and Liza,

We've enjoyed your books; they're a big reason why we're planning on taking the kids cruising in a couple of years. Your input will be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

First 38

Hey Andy,

You are not very active here anymore it seems...

Just read the 10 year old article from 'Blue Water Sailing' about your boat Bagheera. Very good read! Specially since I bought the same boat almost 3 years ago. My First 38 is a 1983 model, so the same as yours. We plan on going cruising in 5-6 years from now. Our plan is a circumnavigation of at least 3 years. So far it is a great boat!
