Newby from Idaho

Got the sailing bug a few years ago. Bought the used McGregor from the police chief in Mountain Home Idaho. Taught myself how to sail on CJ Strike Res. Lots of wind, not much place to go. Sold it.

Took the Bareboat Certification in the San Juan's. Have chartered 3 additional times Abacco's, and S. Juans.

I want to run away in 5 years and sail. When you're kid you want to run away and join the circus. Now it is a very specific boat and long stretches of water. The wife is good with the plan and ready to go as well.

Going to Seattle Boat Show this weekend just to look at different types of boats. Have no intention or the wallet to buy a new boat. I think I want when the time comes a 37-45 foot Valaint, Tayana, or something with a Pilot house on it.

Those are my thoughts for now. I will appreciate your patience with some of the future questions I may ask. Thanks in advance for your help.

Aloha Duck,
Welcome aboard!! Good to have you here. In my opinion there are some owners on the forum who have ideal boats for what you want to do. Scallywag has one of my favorites. I'd pick a boat 32-36.
Kind Regards,

Hey Duckwheat,

Welcome to the forum. I just drove through your neck of the woods on my way to the coast. Poeple here think it's cold; but they have no idea what cold is--we're going sailing tomorrow, hell it's supposed to be 45 degrees, downright sub-tropical. I hope you find a boat soon! You'll likely see something at the boat show that you'll like.
