Newbie in New Zealand

Permission to board?
Hi all.
31yr old with a young family. Pretty new to real sailing, just bought my first yacht a wee Alan wright 23ft bilge Keeler.
Have done a bit of sailing round the calm Mediterranean when I lived in Greece so thought I would live the dream and buy me a yacht here in New Zealand.
Got caught in very rough seas whilst bringing her home and now needing some encouragement, confidence and advice before I take my family around the local bays.

Aloha and welcome aboard!
If you can it's best to pick your weather and not go out on those days that are 20+ knots.
Try a couple of calmer days to practice.
kind regards,
