Newbie here from northern Spain

Greetings from a spaniard here.

So I´m only 29 YO, have been sailing since I was 12 YO however Im the only one in the family who is really into this...the rest dont care about it as much and my girlfriend get seasickness very easily....

So I have to be very careful choosing the model now (second sailboat) and have some doubts. I will be asking some questions and may be helping when I can.

Bienvenidos ojos azules.

When you said you have to be careful choosing the new model at first I thought you meant the new girlfriend.

Have you tried letting her sail on a very calm day. Also it helps to sleep on the boat for a night or two so you can get used to the rocking.

Good luck.

Ola.. bem vindo para CF...
Try spending a couple of w/ends aboard in the marina.. if the space take another couple you both get on with to keep her mind busy.
If that goes well maybe motor out to a quiet anchorage for a couple of nights.. swimming of the boat and dinghy trips to shore..
Small steps.. few people find sailing natural.
Above all else.. avoid subjecting her to 'Tippy tippy' as long as you can.. and even then introduce it slowly.. life at 10.degrees plus is not a female passion..😉

Re: Newbie here from northern Spain

Thanks for the welcome and tips.
I think part of the reason my gf gets seasickness is my very small boat (29ft) is also light, more performance oriented. We had the chance to sail on a classic IOR heavy design with the same length and it was a lot more comfortable.

My first candidate is the P341 as of now. Such a shame most of the classic early 80´s designs don´t have the needed interior headroom. One could have the best of both worlds.

I can´t afford a HR just yet.
