Newbie from Coeur d Alene, ID

FNG here and when I say new... I mean never have sailed! However, I have two sailing captains that are my friends so hopefully they will have some time to spend with me. Since we have numerous lakes around I figured I would start sailing there. Then move to salt water and sail the San Juan islands and once I'm comfortable head south!

I just informed my wife about this dream, and she is all for it as long as she does not have to do any big ocean crossings (she used to work on fishing boats in AK). I'm lucky to have a wife who is always excited for adventures. Now time to learn, learn and learn some more.

I'll do my best to search for questions before I post.

Cheers,

Sean

Welcome aboard
Sounds like you have some great people around you to help realize your dream, tell your wife cruising on a sailboat is much mo fun than fishing off Alaska !
Have fun, your adventure has already begun

Welcome aboard Sean!

Nothing wrong with being new to sailing, all of us were once. Heck I was a mop jockey on the Constitution.

If I’m not mistaken

You have some great lake sailing areas nearby.

Thanks everyone. Yes there are some gorgeous lakes to sail and camp around these neck of the woods. Just need to find that first boat!

Welcome, Sean!

There are other mountain and desert rat sailors around and here's wishing you all the best. Time on the water is a good thing, and even a small boat has lots to teach.
