Newbie from Belgium

Hello all,

I have been chartering in Europe, mostly the Med but also Scotland, for many years. I retired last september and eventually acquired my own sailboat. What a joy! It is currently located on the Med in Gruissan, France.

Our plan is to escape the dreadful belgian weather and to sail around the Mediterranean at least during four months a year.

During last fall we completed our first trip to the Balearic Islands.
This year we are heading out to Italy and then Greece.

Looking forward to participate in the forum, and who knows, to meet some of you on the water.

Welcome aboard! I lived in Kleine Brogel for 2 years.....funny that you mention the 'dreadful Belgian weather' because my fondest memories of Belgium was coming home from school to be greeted by my neighbors sun bathing nude in the back yard! With memories like that, honestly, I can't remember a 'dreadful weather' day at all, but I am sure they were there.....

I think you will find a good bunch on this forum. Lots of experience to be shared.

G'day Marc,
Congratulations on the new boat, the retirement, the cruising plans, and saying hello.
Enjoy!

Aloha and welcome aboard!
It's good to have you posting on the forum. I remember Zeebrugge and a few other spots there but it has been so many years.

Hello all!
I just noticed when replying to John that I missed many of the messages above.
Thanks to all for your welcome messages!
Glad to read that some of you visited Belgium and kept good memories of my country.
Gelfling's experience is interesting! I was never lucky enough to have such neighbors!
Kind regards and looking forward to meet you on the water somewhere sometime.
