Newbie and Intro

Hello Y'all

I'm toying with the idea of sailing and becoming a live aboard. For years I have been looking at sailing for the last decade reading books here and there and the occasional blog. Having a wife and two children I want to wait about five more years which gives me time to save and learn.

I'm aware of the changes in one's lifestyle this can take and having lived off the grid in my twenties I'm used to unconventional living situations. I'm also aware my wife and children haven't ever had to live like this.

I want to know where is a good place to learn to sail around Chattanooga, Tn and how can one make money while living aboard as all my skills are currently suited to living on land.

I currently look on CL for sail boats locally but may start looking at dedicated websites or classifieds. Also recommendation of a good size for a vessel for two adults and two children. I was thinking around forty to forty-five feet. Is it a bad idea to buy a fixer upper or buy set to sail?

Also recommendations for books and blogs.
