New with Fifteen Years to Go !

Hello all! Well only 15 years to go until I can head back out into the ocean... *sigh* Big plan, retire from the Coast Guard and take my 38ft Downeaster sailboat, the Monte Cristo, out and all over the world. Grew up sailing the south Pacific with my parents for 4 years. Went down Mexico for 2, over to the French Polynesia for a year and around Hawaii for a year. Anyone else been to the French Polynesian islands?? How are they of late? Anyone else here also retired military? Its going to be a long 15 years.... lol

Thanks for your service. Yes, retired Navy here. 15 years can go fast. I've been retired for over 20 now. Seems like yesterday I was onboard my last ship.

Thank you for your service. Right there with you. I'm recently divorced and have custody of my nine year old daughter. With raising her to adulthood, paying off all the bills out of the divorce etc and putting money away for the cruising kitty, I figure I'll be able to sail off into my retirement in about 14 years. Right now, landlocked in Oklahoma, 14 yeas seems like a VERY long time.
